What we did

Custom WordPress Website Design and Development; Custom Database Integrations

The pre-existing Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) website had come to a point where its age and content bloat were negatively impacting user experience. The site had became increasingly difficult and confusing to navigate, was regularly experiencing loading and latency issues, and its design and functionality had continued to fall further and further behind the EHS teams evolving vision. 

Our team was provided a task of crafting not only a beautiful, and engaging new website design, but developing a website that would enhance the user experience through new features and functionality, support custom database integrations with third party shelter services, and most importantly showcase the wide range of services, resources, events, and education offered by the Edmonton Humane Society.

The design of the new website features the wide range of EHS brand colours' to bring forward themes of fun and playfulness, while our custom designed site layout and templates add a strong element of professionalism for the display of content in the various features and functions of the new site. 

It was very important that the new website, and its design, would help convey the wide range of humane services that the EHS team provides outside of Adoption services.

One new custom site feature our team has crafted for the EHS team, is a unique education section that provides the EHS team with all new tools to help consolidate and organize their wide ranging catalog of training and pet courses into collections of easy to search and filter listings of upcoming and available classes.

Improving Adoption Access

Custom Adoption Service Integration

Working with both the EHS team, our team has developed a direct integration with their services so that adoptable animals can now be displayed directly within the sites design, remain accessible to view during vendor service outages, and have added capabilities for previously unsupported content controls much desired by the EHS team.

Leadership Directory

Another new addition for EHS our team has developed is a custom staff directory feature that allowed the EHS team to consolidate and present both their Board and Leadership teams in a singular listing This new feature's design includes a slide-out interaction that provides an expanded team member bio, alongside optional team member specific social links.

Resources, Events, and more!

As a resource rich site, the EHS team also had need of several ways to effectively and efficiently organize and display content in easy to search and browse collections of various guides, services, events, resources, and more. 

Our team has crafted a range of unique and brand consistent page templates, WordPress blocks, and custom post types that allow the EHS team full control to not only provide a great frontend user experience, but to also enjoy a much enhanced, intuitive, and easy to manage administrative experience within WordPress CMS itself.
